The First Asian Born Male to Win
As the sensational record-breaking victory of Usain Bolt’s 100m time came to the world in Berlin at the weekend, a golfer from South Korea was writing his own paragraph in the history books.
Yang Yong-Eun’s amazing comeback victory at the PGA Championship was just as important to the club swinging sport as Bolt’s record-shattering 9.58 seconds 100m timing was to the athletics world.
In just a couple of days Yang went beyond the previous achievements of Huan Lu-Liang and Chen Tze-Chung (TC Chen) from Thaiwan, Isao Aoki from Japan, and fellow KJ Choi, by becoming the first Asian-born male to win one of golf’s four majors.
