The greens are on raised ground and well defended by strategically placed bunkers, for instance the sixth hole is encased by a total of six bunkers and water features obscure holes five, eleven and seventeen. While the fairways are on level ground edged with trees.

Valderrama has hosted the World Cup two years in a row in 1999 and 2000, as well as the Volvo Masters from 1988 to 1996 and 2002 and the Ryder Cup in 1997. Many of the best players around the world have graced the greens and fairways Valderrama.

As it is so popular is recommended that you book your tee times at least a fortnight ahead. The course is available to visitors between midday and 2pm each day. Santana Golf has a stream running through it and has two rivers either side of the course. The natural lay of the land has been adhered to, making for superb golf, as it is situated just a short distance from the main roadway, the coast, and accommodation in Mijas and Fuengirola.

The course has mature avocado trees dotted around, with well established plants, which confirms the golfers’ impression of a well maintained club.

Santana Golf Club is about fifteen minutes drive from Fuengirola and three quarters of an hour from Puerto Banus.

The course is of excellent quality and has well manicured lawns which were created by Enrique Canales Busquets. The site, totalling 360 acres, is in the process of being converted into high quality villas and apartments.

Holes one to nine have one par 5 hole, six par 4 holes and two par 3 holes, while the remaining holes have two par 5 holes, five par 4 holes and two par 3 holes. There are many water features through out the course, as well and a number of bunkers strategically placed.

Santa Clara Golf Club is about twenty minutes drive from Fuengirola and also twenty minutes from Puerto Banus.

The course has a beautiful layout and can be testing, but considerate, with fairways edged in well established trees. The Club offers all the facilities that are inherent with a club of this standard and a member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts, World Wide.

There is a top notch restaurant called the Bolero which offers cuisine that mixes Spanish inspired food with more original dishes of the area.

San Roque, well known for the vast bunkers scattered around the course, also has several water hazards, namely at the sixth, eleventh, twelfth, and eighteenth holes.

The Club is also the home of the 5 star Suites Hotel which offers such facilities as tennis courts, squash courts, horse stables, swimming pool and sauna.

The course can be found in the middle of Sotogrande Gibraltar and sign posted at 127 kilometres on the N-340.

The Club offers services such as heated pool, tennis courts, hotel, equestrian centre, practice areas and putting greens comprising of 1 with 18 holes and 1 with 9 holes, 1 pitching area, a dual level driving range, club, trolley and buggy hire, a well equipped pro shop and a golf academy which is overseen by Quintin Van Der Berg

The Old Course covers 6687 yards, has par 72 and a slope level of 126. The New Course covers 6747 yards, has par 72 and has no slope level information. The San Roque Golf Club is about an hours drive from Fuengirola and half an hour from Puerto Banus.

The course is par 72, consisting of par 5s, par 4s and par 3s. Being built in 1925, Parador was the first of its kind in the Costa del Sol and has presented the Turespania Masters (PGA European Tour), the winner of which was Vijay Singh. It presented the cup again in 1999 and that year the winner was Spanish born Miguel Angel Jimenez.

Parador offers a putting green and driving range and it situated in the middle of Malaga and Torremolinos and not too far from Malaga Airport as well as being noticeably signposted on the N-340.

Parador is about quarter of an hours drive from Fuengirola and forty minutes from Puerto Banus.

Monday 25th (has free admission as it is Memorial Day). The Hogan Pro-Am named after Ben Hogan tees off at 8am in the morning. The afternoon then has a Nike Youth Golf Clinic, which is hosted by Anthony Kim.

Tuesday 26th is dedicated to practice rounds for all players. Most players will play 18 and then a specific few holes again.

Wednesday 27th has the Crowne Plaza Pro-Am from 7am.

Thursday 28th – Sunday 31st is the Championship. With a cut at 36 holes and the remaining players competing through the saturday and sunday a winner will be announced sunday afternoon (a play-off maybe needed).

This is mirrored with the facts it has hosted the 1941 US Open, 1975 Players Championship, 1991 US Women’s Open and continuation of the Colonial Invitational every year since 1946.

In May 2010 it will be the 64th Annual Colonial Invitational and will be held between the 24th – 30th May.

Each year the event raises a significant amount of money for Tarrant County Charities. For the 2010 event they are hoping to raise over six million american dollars.
